"I need to find a good appetizer that will go with Shiraz for a wine tasting party."
My Answer:
I love wine tasting parties Carol! Thanks for the question. OK what do we know about Shiraz...it's a big, bold, fruit-forward red wine, so we don't want to serve any delicate dainty little foods that will be overpowered by it.
There are two ways you could go with your appetizer. You could have a dessert-type appetizer like dark chocolate that would hold it's own with the wine.
Or, if you want something more substantial, you could get really creative with some meats like a pork rib or small lamb chop appetizer. Just be careful to stay away from any acidic sauses, as they will clash with the Shiraz. One of the best appetizers I've had lately with Shiraz was a roast duck in a dark plum sauce...mmmm!

I am using a Sweet Marsala for the first time to make Chicken Marsala. How do I store the wine and how long will it keep?
My Answer:
Good question. As a general rule, red wines will last a little bit longer than whites after opening. (Check out my Storing Wine page for more tips). As for your Marsala, you should put a cork in it immediately. You can refridgerate it if you want, or just set it in a cool dark place. It should last a few days, a week tops. Drink it up!

Hi, I'm a mother of 2 kids, both of whom are pizza addicts! We have pizza at least once a week. I am sick of the standard pizza with soda, or pizza with beer. Is it possible to pair wine with pizza?
My Answer:
Heck yeah you can pair wine with pizza! For your standard marinara sauce with pepperoni, sausage, etc, try a spicy Chianti like the Da Vinci Chianti Classico, which can be found at your grocery store for under $10.
If you are eating pizza with white sauce, get creative and try a white wine like a Chardonnay. The possibilities are endless!
