Avila Beach Wine Tasting
Spend a weekend in one of central Califoria's most charming hidden beach towns. Don't expect to find any huge full-scale production wineries in this sleepy beach town. In fact, don't expect to find anything huge period. What you can expect is friendly, welcoming locals, beautiful scenery, good wine and a great weekend.
There are several small wineries and tasting rooms peppered throughout Avila Beach. Each has its own personality.
Avila Beach Wineries
Morovino Winery is located right next to the Avila Beach promenade, about a block from the beach.
They craft a small number of quality wines, mostly from Santa Barbara regional grapes, that are sold only through their
wine club
and tasting room. Grab a seat at their bar or tasting room and have a chat with the friendly owners!
Alapay Cellars is owned by Scott and Rebecca Remenga, who aim to give all their customers a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
They produce a small variety of premium quality wines, which allows them to focus on high quality and the running of their tasting room.
Avila Wine & Roasting Co is downtown Avila's local wine shop. They offer a selection of interesting wines from throughout the central coast, from
San Luis Obispo
and
Paso Robles
, as well as many other
California wine regions.
Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards is nestled in the apple orchards in the scenic See Canyon. A few minutes drive from the beach, this family owned winery is worth the drive. With an great wines and a friendly, approachable staff, you will feel comfortable here no matter what your wine tasting experience.
Salisbury Vineyards tasting room is located in a hundred-year-old schoolhouse in Avila Valley. They have 10 acres of Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and other
types of wine
, along with a fantastic art gallery.Aside from these five wineries, there are several fantastic restaurants and bars to help you get your Avila Beach wine tasting fix.

Avila Beach Blues Festival

Every May, Avila Beach Resort hosts the Avila Beach Blues Festival. Each year there is a great lineup of blues musicians, a selection of local wine, beer, and food vendors. It is a great time for everyone, local and tourist alike.Some of the past festivals have featured Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Jonny Lang, Los Lobos, and other great musicians! The festival usually takes place the day after the Avila Beach Beer Festival, another popular event that sells out every year. The event is right across the street from the pier, and is a great way to soak up the perfect central California weather.
