Braised Brisket in White Wine Recipe
This recipe takes a while, since you have to cook the brisket for about 3 hours so plan ahead. It's definitely worth the wait though! This dish feeds the whole family, with leftovers.
Ingredients
-2lb beef brisket
-1/2 cup dry white wine
-salt and pepper
-1 tbsp cooking oil
-1 white onion, diced
-4 garlic cloves, minced or thin-sliced
-2 tomatos, chopped
-4 peeled carrots
-4 peeled parsnips
-1/3 cup chicken stock
-1/4 cup water
-1 tsp thyme
-1 tsp rosemary
Directions
Preheat oven to 230 degrees F.
Put the oil in a large pan and heat on medium. Season the brisket with salt and pepper and sear both sides in the pan until the outside is brown. Take brisket out of the pan, add the wine, and turn up the heat to high. Scrape the pan and reduce the wine for 1 minute. Add the white onion and cook on medium for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the brisket, tomatos, carrots, thyme and rosemary, parsnips, water, and chicken stock. Bring the liqud to a simmer.
Cover and cook in the oven for 2 1/2 hours. When the brisket is tender it is done.
Slice and serve with the broth on top.
Have a Great Wine Recipe?
I don't have the time to invest gathering 100 more recipes, and I also don't want my site to become too one-dimensional by only having my own personal recipes. So I want people to contribute their favorite recipes and vote or comment on the best. This will allow my visitors (that's you!) to share their favorite recipes, contribute content, vote, experiment, and receive kudos from fellow visitors on their grandma's best recipe. It's a win-win for everyone. I get really good additional content and my visitors get to be part of the community!
