    Books

    Books always make great gifts, and they work well for wine lovers as well. Here are a couple of really good books about California wine. They are both in my list of favorites.

    California Wine For Dummies: The name pretty much says it all. If you're interested in the multitude of California wines, or planning to take a wine tasting trip through one of the great California wine regions , this book is a good place to start.

    Give it to your hubby, along with any of our other California wine gifts, before you go on that romantic wine cruise through the golden state.

    Judgement of Paris:California vs. France and the Historic 1976 Paris Tasting That Revolutionized Wine by George Taber is a super interesting read. In the mid 1970's, a group of supremely confident French winemakers challenges some California wines to a tasting contest. Sure that the French would win, the world was shocked when the upstart California wineries swept away the contest!

    This book tells about the contest, the controversy, and the still heated feelings about it. *Don't give it to your French friends.

    Movies

    Movies are another inexpensive gift that works perfect for thoses smaller occassions.

    I recommend Wine Road Trips: Napa, California. Ever thought about taking a road trip through Napa Valley ? In this video, you get a personal tour from local Napa gourmet chefs, wine makers, and vintners. This is one of my recommended California wine gifts.
    *Warning: it will make you want to pack up and drive to Napa!
