California Wine Regions
There are so many great California wine regions, hidden away secret spots and great wineries that it's hard to even know where to begin. I've broken the entire state into several more manageable pieces.
Being a California native myself, I am somewhat biased. However, anyone who has spent a weekend among the wineries in Napa Valley, or explored the countryside of the central coast knows that the wines here are as diverse as the people, and the wine growing regions of California are some of the best places in the world to spend a weekend.
Each of the regions below has its own unique personality, from the chic, energetic wine bars of downtown San Diego to the quiet countryside of Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. Each area should be explored fully, with plenty of time to soak in the scenery, the people, and of course, the wine.
For a more in-depth look at the wines and wineries of California, check out the book to the right, "Califonia Wine For Dummies", which I found on Amazon.
It has an overview of California, a guide to the top wine travel destinations, and the ins and outs of recent vintages, plus much more. Makes a good gift or guide if you're planning a wine trip to any part of California. You can find other great California wine gifts on my Wine Gifts page.
