Filet Mignon with Merlot Sauce Recipe
This is one of my favorite recipes in the world! If you are a steak and wine lover, I promise you will like this one. I found ths filet mignon recipe originally in an old cookbook (name unknown, the cover was ripped off).Ingredients -1/2 cup Merlot -2 cans chicken broth -1 can beef broth -2 tbsp butter -1 tbsp flour -1 tbsp olive oil -2 6-8 ounce filet mignon steak -1/4 cup shallots, chopped -1 tsp thyme -1 tbsp garlic, chopped -pepperDirections Boil the wine, chicken broth, and beef broth on high heat, reducing the sauce to about 2 cups (this should take about an hour). Cover and refrigerate. Mix flour and butter in a mixing bowl. Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Sprinkle the steaks with salt and pepper, then sautee until they are medium rare. Take the steaks out of the skillet. Add the garlic, thyme, and shallots to the skillet and bring to a boil. Stir in garlic butter mixture. Boil sauce until it thickens, drizzle onto the steaks, and serve.
Have a Great Wine Recipe?
I don't have the time to invest gathering 100 more recipes, and I also don't want my site to become too one-dimensional by only having my own personal recipes.
So I want people to contribute their favorite recipes and vote or comment on the best. This will allow my visitors (that's you!) to share their favorite recipes, contribute content, vote, experiment, and receive kudos from fellow visitors on their grandma's best recipe. It's a win-win for everyone. I get really good additional content and my visitors get to be part of the community!
