Why Join?The popularity of wine clubs has exploded over the last few years. The introduction of online clubs has helped this of course, as it has made it easy for anyone to have wine delivered right to their door, even if they live in the middle of nowhere. A few years ago it was impossible to even buy wine online, and now that it is available, fantastic deals and clubs are all over the web.For most people, trying to find a good wine from among thousands of bottles displayed at the local store just doesn't reliably deliver quality wine. I have personally found that I have better success with wines that are recommended to me by other wine-loving friends. That is the purpose of a wine club. You sign up to a club that focuses on an area or type of wine you like, and they deliver the best wines that they can find. It's kind of like having a personal wine server pick wines that they know you will like! Almost every good sized winery has a club, where you sign up and they will send you a selection of each of their newest vintages each month or each quarter. There are also regional wine clubs, which pull a selection of the best rated wines from a particular region. You can find clubs dedicated to only white wines, only reds, sweet wines, award-winning wines, or pretty much anything you want! I personally sign up to new wine clubs all the time, to the point where I get more wine than I can drink each month. It's a good way to find out what I really like, make sure I always have a good bottle or two available for unexpected company or a gift for someone, and always have a good selection of quality wine on hand all the time. I would recommend joining the wine club at a winery you really enjoy. Most of them will send you a newsletter with your wine each month, invite you to tasting events and parties, and give you discounts when you go to the winery.
If you don't have a winery nearby, there are some really fantastic clubs online. One of my favorite is Cellars Wine Club, which is why I chose to partner with them for this section on my site. Cellars offers a ton of different clubs and options, depending on what you're looking for. A couple of my personal favorites are the West Coast Wine Club, which features the best wines from Washington, Oregon, and California, and the 90+ Point Wine Club, which includes only wines that have been rated a 90 or higher by the most prominent wine critics. The memberships on this page are only a few of the many options the the Cellars club offers. Joining a club, whether it is a wine of the month club at your local winery or an international wine of the month club online, can be fun and rewarding, not only for all the great wine you will get to enjoy, but also the new vintages you will learn about.
